Body & Soul Art & Decor Bursaries 2020

Body & Soul provides installation artists the opportunity to shape the festival landscape by creating immersive and interactive installations across the 16th Century walled gardens, woodlands and lakeside of Ballinlough Castle. Bursaries are geared towards professional artists, technicians, architects and creatives with experience in delivering similar projects on budget and on time. We encourage submissions that develop a high-quality, imaginative artistic practice; and can reach and engage with diverse audiences.

Please read the briefs for all bursaries (below) before applying and indicate in your application bursary you are applying for. f you have questions regarding any bursary, please contact us by email: decor@bodyandsoul.ie.

While we promote full artistic expression without boundaries, please be realistic in terms of the cost and safety of your project. We will make our final decisions based upon your level of expertise, vision and ability to work within deadlines and small budgets.

Please read our Terms and Conditions here.

Body & Soul 2020 Theme: Purpose

The theme for Body & Soul 2020 is Purpose. We invite artists applying for bursaries to integrate this concept into their applications.

Purpose is a commitment to meaningful action in complicated times. 2020 provides the gift of 20/20 vision: looking forward and looking back. An exploration of the potential that lives within a purposeful gathering of like-minded individuals and the deeply human act of a damn fine party.

Selected designs will evoke the following:

- Playful, poignant nods to the central theme
- Ritualistic opportunities for interaction
- Eco-conscious with a global worldview
- A reverence for nature (land art, nature based art, recycled art)
- Symbolic or geometric shapes and themes
- Art that inspires a sense of awe, connection, beauty
- The sacred and the profane
-Portals, thresholds, entrance ways, shrines
- Intentionality - Sun dials, standing stones, dolmens, medicine wheels

We look forward to co-creating with you.
