Soul Kids Top Family Festival Tips 2019

    To make the trip a little easier for parents and children we have put together a few tips and tricks;

    Before you get there

    • Pack lightly but think logically! Bring a wheelbarrow or an old buggy to help bring luggage from the car to your camp. It also doubles up as a carriage for a small child over the weekend.
    • Be prepared for all situations; bring plenty of sunscreen and waterproof clothing. It is Ireland after all and who knows what to expect! Pack a sunhat or a cap for sunny situations or a small umbrella can double as protection from the rain or a parasol for the little ones.
    • A large blanket is essential, it can be wrapped around your little ones when it gets dark and the temperature drops, it’s also great to sit on during the day and good for an extra layer underneath at night (wool is the best)
    • Bring a handful of face-clothes or small towels (good for cleaning grubby hands and faces and more environmentally friendly than wipes)
    • A good quality first aid kid is another must bring item when bringing children to a festival. Check it has everything in it that you need before you leave.
    • Noise levels might be uncomfortable for small children so we strongly suggest you bring ear protectors of some kind. Forget earplugs for children under 10, doubtful you’ll get them in & you could cause ear damage if not put in right.
    • If you have a formula fed baby, invest in ready mixed formula milk cartons. For older children bring plenty of breakfast bars, dry crackers, rice cakes, biscuits etc they will save on washing up and they will also come in handy for those bedtime hunger pangs that little ones might get.
    • Nappies for little ones at night (even if they are normally dry) are much more pleasant than wet sleeping bags. Don’t forget you are likely to be sleeping next to them, so you could get wet too!
    • Bring a sling or papoose to carry babies. If necessary, borrow a kids buggy for the festival or even a Wheelbarrow. (The Wheelbarrow is often better as it can take 30kg)
    • Don’t bring valuables or if you do , then carry them on your person.

    Once on site

    • Camp in the designated family camping areas, they are more child friendly, full of other parents & there is normally less in the way of extreme language.
    • Make sure you have a tent big enough to comfortably accommodate children, with plenty of books & toys for potential downpours..
    • It is important to minimize the risk of your child getting lost. We recommend you:
    • Keep a close eye on your children. It only takes a second for them to vanish into the crowd. Hold hands, or if it gets very busy carry them!
    • Mark your children in some way with your name and mobile numbers i.e. write it onto their clothes or arms with permanent marker.
    • Educate your children on what to do if they get separated from you. For example: Stand still, shout ‘MAMMY/DADDY’. Advise them to stay where they are & not to move or go with anyone until a Security guard / Steward approaches them. They should indicate their phone number to the security guard or steward.Instruct them never to go with anyone other than a security guard or steward.
    • Have fun! Forget about the usual bedtime routines and just go with the flow, kids will sleep when they are tired.
    • Parents are responsible for their children at all times, and should NOT leave them alone.

An installment option is available to help spread the cost. The event is strictly over 20s and photo ID will be required (passport/ driver’s licence / Garda age cards). For ticketing support contact

    I can’t go anymore, can I get a refund?

    All Tickets are non-refundable.

What about if I want to give my ticket to a friend?

You can transfer a ticket to a friend by logging into your Ticketbooth account and paying a name change fee. We require that the correct name is on your ticket in order to enter the festival.

I want to bring my child, do they need a ticket?

Body & Soul Festival is an over 20s event. Photo ID will have to be presented if age is in question. However, children under 12 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a parent/legal guardian with a Family Camping Ticket (max. two children per ticket-holding adult) or a Sunday Day Ticket. You register your child at the point of sale via Ticketbooth. 13-19 year olds are not permitted, even when accompanied by an adult. For further details see the dedicated Families section of our FAQ.

I’m under the age of 20, can I attend Body&Soul?

Body & Soul is a strictly over 20s event and you are required to provide proof of age when you attend (driver’s license/passport/ Garda ID). Our age guidelines are due to the nature of our programming, which we feel is best suited to those 20 and over. We do however provide a children’s programme for children under 12 and you can attend with your children by purchasing a family ticket. See above query for more details.

    Can I buy a 1 day ticket

Limited Edition Sunday Day tickets have been released for sale.

Can I get a bus to Body & Soul?

Yes! We are partnering with Bus Éireann to make it easy for you to get to the festival. Choosing the bus over car transport is also another way you can help make the festival sustainable. Bus tickets across the weekend from Dublin are available from just €20 HERE.
Further routes from other cities will be added soon.

What is the Us&You Campsite? Why should I book an Us&You Ticket?

The Us & You campsite is a ‘green campsite’ for conscious campers who commit to ‘leave no trace’. It’s where the soundest people at the festival camp, basically. We strive to make the festival more environmentally sustainable. Us&You campers enjoy faster entry to the festival, dedicated facilities and café. Body & Soul’s aim is to eventually expand the Us&You campsite to cover the entire festival campgrounds. As always, we need You to help Us to achieve this. Remember, you need an Us&You wristband to enter the Us&You camping so make sure you and your friends are all on the same page when you book your tickets.

I want to camp in the Boutique Campsite, what are my options?

This year, we’ll be offering Boutique Camping options through our camping providers Silk Road, LPM Bohemia and Pitched Perfect. You can link through from our Camping section. Terms and conditions apply and you may be required to pay a deposit, please read these before you purchase.

I want to pick up my tent at the festival, how can I do this?

We work with Pamper the Camper to provide camping packages that you can collect at the festival. See the Camping section for more details.

Can I park my car beside my tent?

No, vehicles are not permitted into any of the campsites or the campervan area for health and safety reasons.

What about if I have a campervan?

Campervans are permitted into either the campervan area or the family campervan area with a Campervan Ticket or a Family Campervan Ticket. We would define a campervan as having its own built-in kitchen, sink and fitted bed. Campervan passes are available via our ticketing provider, Ticketbooth. You can purchase yours here. You’ll need one campervan pass per vehicle + a normal weekend ticket for everyone staying in the van and this is required for you to enter your campervan area. We do not permit tents to be pitched beside your campervan and there are no electrical hookups or generators allowed in the campervan area for health and safety reasons.

    Can I bring a caravan?

Yes, you can park a caravan in the campervan area. However, once positioned you will need to unhitch and park your car in one of the car parks. Please note that a campervan pass will need to be purchased for your caravan.

Can I park a commercial style van (hi-ace, transit, etc.) in the campervan area if I have a campervan pass?

No, sorry. Only proper purpose-built or adapted live-in vehicles will be permitted.

    Can I bring my pet?

No, we don’t allow pets on site.

    Can I bring a gazebo?

No, we don’t allow gazebos for health and safety reasons.

Does Body & Soul have a Green Policy?

Yes. Body & Soul has a green policy which can be found in the Sustainability section of the website.

What is included in a Family Ticket?

We’re aware that families come in all shapes and sizes. With that in mind, our family ticket grants one adult and two children access to the Family Campsite. The Family Campsite includes its own independent entrance, dedicated shower and toilet facilities and the invitation to enjoy the full programme of Soul Kids activities on offer. If your family includes more than one adult, then each additional adult should purchase their own Family Camping ticket at the same price as a traditional Weekend Camping pass.

Can children over 12 attend the festival?

Currently, Body & Soul only provides appropriate programming for children under 12. Our Family Campsite activities and Soul Kids area is specifically designed with under 12s in mind and we don’t currently provide adequate support for teenagers. For this reason, we restrict family tickets to children 12 and under. 13-19 year olds cannot be admitted to Body & Soul.

I want to arrive at the Family Campsite before my children, can I gain access?

Our policy is that adults must be with their children in order to gain access to the family campsite. Families have a dedicated entrance to their campsite away from other campers and it is a requirement that you have your children with you in order to obtain your wristbands and gain access to the family campsite.

Who can camp in the Family Camping area?

Only adults with family ticket wristbands and their children. If you are an adult camping as part of a family, you need a family ticket.

I bought a family campervan pass, where do I go?

If you purchased a family campervan pass you can enter the festival site via the campervan entrance, from here you will be directed to the family campervans area. If you do not wish to camp in the family campsite please purchase a general campervan pass..

Can I bring food with me?

Yes, of course. We have designated barbeque areas in our campsites for you to bring your own disposable barbeques and cook there. Please note, for health and safety reasons, we cannot allow gas camping stoves on site.

    Our Alcohol Policy:

Each individual is permitted to bring the amount of alcohol below, provided it isn’t in glass containers. Decant your spirits and wine into plastic bottles before you arrive! 24 x 500 ml cans of beer, cider or ready-mix drinks or 1 x 750ml bottle of spirits or 3 bottles of wine (decanted into a plastic bottle), or 1 x 2-litre wine box This applies to all ticket holders, performers and event staff. You will be checked at point of wrist-banding. Absolutely no re-entry with alcohol once wrist-banded.

Can I bring my alcohol with me into the arena?

Body & Soul operates a Free Flow policy, which means you can bring your personal limit of alcohol that you brought to the festival into the arenas or wherever you wish. There will be no further searches once you have been admitted to the festival – search is at point of entry only. No glass containers are permitted on site whatsoever but decanting services are available at the main entrance where 1 litre reusable plastic bottles are available for €1. There are free Water Points throughout the site. You cannot leave the festival site and re-enter with alcohol.
