Library of Progress

“Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks,  Sermons in stones, and good in everything.”

As You Like It, William Shakespeare.

Echoing the vision of The Library of Congress – the United States’ repository of some of humanity’s greatest works and the largest library in the world, The Library of Progress is a space at this year’s Body&Soul that will celebrate all that is good about human curiosity, the scientific method and critical thinking.

This has never been more important than at this moment in history when people are looking inwards more than outwards; when people are falling victim to propaganda and alternative facts; at this moment when progressive, liberal minds are baffled by the success of forces that seem to glory in ignorance, fear and misinformation.

In order to defeat these forces, though, we must understand them and hear them out. We need to think about how we think; and why. The Library of Progress features a full weekend of events that offer reflections on all of this and some great craic too.
