Kate Egan

Kate Egan is an environmental education consultant and owner/operator of ‘An Ghrian Glas Farm’. With a degree in Applied Ecology from UCC and a Masters in Environmental Education and Communication from Royal Roads University she has gone on to work with many Irish environmental charities and government organisations. Kate has developed education programmes for the Wicklow Mountains National Park, The Irish Wildlife Trust, Doneraile Park, P.U.R.E Project, Presentation Ireland and Leave No Trace Ireland.

Trading an office for a farm in 2016 she moved to Westmeath with her partner Tom and set up ‘An Ghrian Glas Farm’. The farm consists of a 2 acre market garden, 1 acre orchard, 2 acre food forest and the rest (4 acres) is given over to wildlife and biodiversity as much as possible. The purpose of the farm is to protect our natural resources, act as a repository for biodiversity, produce healthy, nutritious, sustainable food for our community and provide services such as education and social farming.

Recently nominated as a Farming for Nature Ambassador and featured in the Irish Times Top 50 people to watch. Kate is excited about sharing her journey in sustainable food production and supporting others in theirs.
