Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Provaí are the West Belfast lads that make up hip-hop group Kneecap. If the lads aren’t hunting for awl ones down at the local bingo hall there’s a chance they’re off smuggling drugs through sleibhte Chonamara. Rapping exclusively as gaeilge, Kneecap have made quite a splash since they dropped their first single “C.E.A.R.T.A” in December 2017 and were banned off the airs of RTÉ for reasons unknown. The Times claimed “RTÉ has censored a hip-hop song performed in the Irish Language because of reference to drugs, sex and the Police Service of Northern Ireland”. Controversial, charming and clever, all we know is expect big things from the Belfast boys.
