Lyra

Born and raised in the breathtaking surround of Mount Oval, Co.Cork, Lyra’s fascination with music was sparked at age 6 when she began singing at her local church. Her elder sister, noticing the young Lyra’s enthusiasm, began introducing her to the nature of harmony and teaching her songs to perform at home. From there, Lyra never looked back.
With a foundation in vocal performance established, Lyra became fascinated by percussion. First taking up the drums and eventually adopting the bodhrán, an instrument that remains prevalent in her work to this day. These twin passions of the percussive and the melodic continue to colour Lyra’s equal parts muscular and ethereal take on pop music. With her otherworldly output routinely compared to greats like Kate Bush, FKA Twigs and even Enya – 2017 is set to be a big year for this immensely talented Corkonian chanteuse.
