The Bonk

The Bonk is a broad-based musical project headed by Waterford songwriter and improviser Phil Christie (O Emperor). Gathering influences from 60’s garage, jazz and experimental pop, the band’s arrangements bring recursive rhythms and improvised melodies together in loose minimalist song forms.

Their first record, The Bonk Seems To Be A Verb, released through Drogheda-based tape label thirtythree-45, is a collection of one-off live studio takes patched together from various sessions over an 18 month period. Since its release, recordings have been continuing apace with the bands live appearances with more tracks set for release soon.
