Fashion & Art are key parts of the creation of Hip Hop and its culture. With Graffiti, Breakdancing and Beatboxing being 3 of the key Pillars, when combined with the Mc’s and Dj’s give Hip Hop its unique identity within modern culture.
On August 11, 1973, Clive Campbell, aka Dj Kool Herc, and his sister Cindy Campbell hosted a back-to-school block party from the recreational room of 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in The Bronx. Kool Herc was the first DJ to use two turntables to separate the breakbeats of popular songs at the time, bringing a revolution of music and culture that would influence the vision of Art ,Fashion & Music for the next 5 decades and beyond. Stevie G will host a conversation with some of the key figures in Graffiti, Breakdancing, Djing and Rap from Ireland. Pivotal moments of its influence from the street and how it’s filtered into mainstream culture.
