Unleashing Your Animal Knowing ( An Expressive Movement Experience )

Through creative movement and writing, participants will access the parts of themselves that innately know how to feel, express, and belong to this Earth. Emily Morrison is the one who has longed to experience the world’s wonders with her entire body. To root like Redwood, to sense her heart linked to the hearts of Others, to whoop and cackle like Baboon and Crow, reach out her arms circling friends into community, and to move her entire body with the suppleness of clay and the dynamic fluidity of water. To be able to heave and cry her grief, jump boldly into love, tend gently to her fears, and skip and sing in celebration.
Her path to embodying this longing began twelve years ago, when she committed herself to becoming a professional dancer. She trained at the Ailey School in New York City and later under ballet dancer Gelsey Kirkland. Upon graduation, she created and performed professionally with choreographers such as Troy Ogilvie, Janice Garrett, Alison Cook Beatty & Susan Tenney. This knowing carries her work forward: that dance is a birthright for all of us, regardless of physical agility. It can strengthen our personal and community bonds and connect us with the more-than-human world.
